Resort
Pools and Recreation
The
large pool at Disney's Contemporary Resort has a 17-foot high curving
slide added. The second, smaller Bay Lake pool is round and gets
progressively deeper as you move to the middle. There are also two spas
and a children’s wading pool. Swimming in Bay Lake is not permitted due
to high watercraft traffic, but Bay Lake can provide a playground
for many other kinds of water activities. For a fee, guests may choose
watermice, sailboats, pontoon boats, water-skiing, or parasailing as well.
Tennis
buffs will enjoy the six clay tennis courts. A Pro shop, tennis lessons,
drill lessons and clinics are available.
Olympiad
fitness center is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Here you will find Nautilus equipment, 6 Life Circuit
Stations, 11 Cybex Stations, hand weights up to 50 lbs., Stairmasters,
Life Cycles, treadmills, sauna, massages, whirlpool, and tanning booths.
Personal training is available by appointment only.
Beach
volleyball, basketball hoops, shuffleboard, a jogging path and the
children's playground offer lots of alternative recreational options.
The
Game Station is a very large video arcade, one of the best on Walt
Disney World property. There
is also a pool table in this games room.
Electric
Water Pageant - Go to the boat dock in the evening at
approximately 9:35 PM (check with Guest Services for exact times). You'll
be treated to the delightful Electric Water Pageant which makes its way
across Bay Lake nightly. This whimsical light and music show will
entertain you and your family for about 10 minutes. It's worth seeing at
least once! (The ELP visits all the Bay Lake resorts nightly.) The ELP may
be canceled due to inclement weather
Dining
and Shopping
The
Contemporary Resort offers three full-service restaurants.
The
California Grill - This is the premiere restaurant of the Contemporary
Resort. It is located on the 15th floor of the Tower building and offers
California-style cuisine. The views of the Magic Kingdom and surrounding
areas are breathtaking and the lounge or outer balcony are perfect spots
from which to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. California Grill
serves dinner only. Check-in for the California Grill is located on the
second floor next to the escalators.
The
Wave - This restaurant is located on the first floor near the check-in
desks and offers a variety of upscale dishes including Braised Lamb Shank,
Grilled Pork Tenderloin, and Seasonal Vegetable Stew. The Wave offers full
service breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Chef
Mickey's - This is the spot for character meals at the Contemporary. A
buffet breakfast with Mickey and the gang is offered every morning. In the
evening a buffet featuring prime rib, seafood, and a variety of other
dishes is offered, also with Mickey and Co.
There
are two counter service areas:
The
Contempo Café is located on the fourth floor and serves breakfast,
lunch, and dinner along with an assortment of snacks and drinks.
The Sand Bar is
located by the pool and is open with seasonal hours. It serves mainly
burgers, deli sandwiches, and ice cream. The Bar serves beer, wine and
cocktails.
Refillable
mugs are available. These are
16-oz, sturdy, dish dishwasher safe plastic containers with lids. Mugs are
refillable for the length of your stay. Beverages at the island include soft drinks, coffee, tea,
iced coffee and tea, and hot chocolate (but not milk or fruit juice).
Bayview

chocolates and fudge, homewares and photo collectibles. The middle section
offers Ladies casual fashions, watches, jewelry and framed art
collectibles. The end section offers men's fashions.
